I've always been a big fan of Canadian folk rocker Bruce Cockburn. Cockburn's tuneful melodies often slyly combine with angry lyrics, most particularly on his 1980s hit single, "If I Had a Rocket Launcher."
This song, one of Cockburn's best, is more resigned than angry. At one point he laments, "I've seen the flame of hope among the hopeless...and that was truly the biggest heartbreak of all."
Indeed.
'Bill' • Thanks so much for the words, and now the music. You're a gem.
