Assurant Solutions Call Center in Lawton (Oklahoma) Will Close, 175 Laid Off

There have been a awful lot of call center closings lately. Guess people don't need help with stuff anymore, or something. Here is NewsOK with the story:
The Assurant Solutions call center in Lawton says it will phase out operations over the next few months and close the facility next year, leaving about 175 people out of work.

President Craig Lemasters tells a local newspaper that work will be transferred to company centers in Miami, Fla., and Albany, Ore.

The Lawton center handles calls in the insurance and warranty industries. The center opened in 2001 and at one point had more than 400 workers.
And so it goes.

  1. I left Lawton in 1997 and Assurant had opened just a few years before that. Their new building was about a mile from my house.

  2. My husband and I used to have our health insurance with Assurant. We had to change companies about two years ago, because they kept raising our premiums; we couldn't afford to do business with them anymore. We can't be the only ones.

  3. This breaks my heart to hear about this. I started at Assurant on day one. God Bless all employees and their families.
