Had he been born a generation earlier, and not performing during the vacuous
American Idol years, Virginia singer-songwriter Scott Miller would no doubt have been a big star. Miller draws amazing mental images with his lyrics, perhaps none ever as vivid in this song about the Civil War that perfectly captures the essence of the futility of war in general.
