The process in virtually every community goes like this..<br />- implement bus fees<br />- raise bus fees (until people revolt)<br />- try desperate measures like advertising on side of buses<br />- discontinue bus service<br /><br />Most communities are somewhere on this continuum. Our town is somewhere in the step 2/3 range.<br /><br />And what happens when we discontinue bus service? Instead of a single relatively efficient diesel bus, we get 20-40 gas-driven SUV's and mini-vans. Another win for human ingenuity, efficiency, conservation and planning.
