About two weeks ago I upped my number of posts to four a day because the increased number of mass layoff notices I was seeing. So far, I haven't been able to cut back as they just keep on coming. Here is a local Pennsylvania television station with the details:
Global Tungsten and Powders Corporation in Bradford County announced it will be reducing 150 positions. You can thank the push for "green" light bulbs for this one:
The company employs nearly 1,000 people in the Towanda area.
Employees on the chopping block make wiring in incadesent light bulbs like the ones that have been used in homes and businesses for years. Those light bulbs will soon be a thing of the past.Well, at least their jobs aren't being outsourced to China...for whatever that's worth.
The shelves at Fairchild's Hardware in Towanda have few incandescent light bulbs because they are being phased out altogether across the country. Replacing them are longer lasting, more energy efficient compact fluorescents or LEDs.
Bonus: "Give me my hope...give me my energy"

Is Obama's guy who counts the green jobs being created subtracting 150 for this? Maybe the total will wind up negative.
